WapukhaThe Department of Technology Education is a department in the School of Education was started as one of the pioneer Department of Murang’a University of Technology. The department of Technology Education is looking forward to be recognized internationally as a centre of excellence in Engineering  Technology Education with specific emphasis on Mechanical engineering Technology, Electrical engineering Technology and Building and construction engineering Technology and hopes to endeavor to build Technology education, TVET Education and Technical Education  capacity for TVET institutions,  TVET sector,  national development and wealth creation through training of highly skilled manpower in engineering Technology, research, consultancy and extension services in view of working towards achieving vision 2030.

The department is constituted of three main sections i.e. Building and Construction Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technology.The department offers Doctor of philosophy in Technology Education with options (Mechanical engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Building  and Construction Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology), Master of Technology Education with options( Mechanical engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Building  and Construction Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology), Bachelors of Technology education with options ( Mechanical engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Building  and Construction Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology)

Doctor of philosophy in Technology Education

( PhD. TED)

Admission requirements:

M.TED/ or masters degree in engineering Technology based programmes, Diploma in education or equivalent

Mechanical engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Building  and Construction Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology)

Master of Technology Education ( M- TED)

Admission requirements: B. TED, or Engineering Technology degree/ Technical degree with diploma in Education or equivalent

Mechanical engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Building  and Construction Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology)

Bachelors of Technology education ( B. TED)

Admission requirement: KCSE C+, with C+ in mathematics, physics, chemistry or Diploma technical areas, or equivalent

Mechanical engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Building  and Construction Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology)

The students who take these course when they graduate, will  work in TVET institutions, Technical training institutions, National polytechnics, and universities of Technology and Technical universities as Teachers, lecturers, senior lectures and professors. It is through TVET education, engineering Technology Education, research, consultancy and extension services will enhance the achieving of vision 2030.
